CREATING BEAUTIFUL SMILES WITH
Home Care
A beautiful, healthy smile starts with consistent care at home. Along with regular dental visits, your daily habits play an important role in controlling plaque and bacteria and protecting the health of your teeth and gums.
Eating balanced meals, limiting frequent sugary snacks and drinks, and using the right oral-hygiene tools can help you maintain your smile between appointments.
Popular Procedures
TOOTH BRUSHING
Brush your teeth twice each day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Hold the brush at approximately a 45-degree angle toward the gumline and gently clean the outside, inside, and chewing surfaces of every tooth. Spend about two minutes brushing and remember to clean your tongue as well. Manual and electric toothbrushes can both be effective when used correctly.
FLOSSING
Clean between your teeth every day to remove plaque and food particles that a toothbrush cannot easily reach. Gently guide floss between the teeth, curve it around the side of each tooth, and move it up and down without forcing it into the gums.
If traditional floss is difficult to use, ask our team about floss holders, interdental brushes, or other between-the-teeth cleaning options.
RINSING
Rinsing with water after meals can help clear away food particles when brushing is not immediately possible. Mouth rinses may also be useful for some patients, but the best product depends on your individual oral-health needs. Our dentist or hygienist may recommend additional home-care aids such as interdental brushes, tongue cleaners, oral irrigators, fluoride products, or specialized rinses.
